Hi, I’m Jay.

I run Creator Science, a multi-million dollar business and one of the most trusted voices in the creator economy. We teach creators a reliable path to growth through observation, experimentation, and iteration, across a newsletter read by more than 65,000 people every week, a podcast with 2.5 million downloads, a YouTube channel with 145,000 subscribers, and The Lab, our membership for full-time creators. Together, they’ve helped thousands of creators build successful businesses.

It started with a doubt. When I left the startup world to build something of my own, I didn’t believe I was creative, so I started writing a newsletter to prove myself wrong. I’ve kept that promise every week since 2017, and it’s the reason any of this works: trust is earned when a promise is kept.

I’ve always been a ’tweener. A football equipment manager gave me the label as a teenager, when my head fell between a medium and a large helmet, and it’s described most of my life since. I’ve usually been the youngest person in the room, early to some things and late to others. Maybe that’s why I’ve always built communities like The Lab: when you spend a lot of time feeling out of place, you learn how to make a space where people feel at home. These days I write about what that’s taught me about trust, loyalty, and the friendships that matter most. (The longer version.)

In 2023, The Tilt named me Content Entrepreneur of the Year, and the Creator Science podcast earned a 2022 Signal Award.

I’ve also invested in 10+ startups, including Kit, RightMessage, Maven, Carry, Kick, and Gumroad. Through the Creator Science Syndicate, my audience can invest alongside me, backing platforms that help creators succeed and sharing in the upside.

Before Creator Science, I built and sold a ticketing startup, Tixers, then sold my community, Unreal Collective, to Pat Flynn and Smart Passive Income, where I designed their membership and community programs.
